The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is South Africa’s leading, and only existing, national science fair that affords learners the opportunity to enter a project to exhibit their own scientific investigation. The project aims to inspire and develop young scientists who are able to identify a problem, analyse information, find solutions and communicate findings effectively.
Learners are required to enter a research project into one of the 32 regional finals held between July and September every year, and will then be selected for participation at the national final in Johannesburg, 4-7 October. Great prizes are up for grabs at the Grahamstown Regional Final, including a first year bursary for study at Rhodes University for the top five projects and other prizes from local businesses.
The 2016 Eskom Expo for Young Scientists Grahamstown Regional Final will be held at the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences Building, Rhodes University, Artillery Road in Grahamstown on Saturday, 30 July. The public are welcome to come view the projects from 09h00 onwards.
