Eskom Expo for Young Scientists
Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is an exposition, or science fair, where students have a chance to show others their projects about their own scientific investigations.
At Expo, students can discuss their work with judges, teachers and students from other schools, with parents and with other interested people.
By participating at expo students will increase their awareness of the wonders of science, add to their knowledge and broaden their scientific horizons.
Our Mission is to develop young scientists who are able to identify a problem, analyse information, find solutions and communicate findings effectively.
The Grahamstown regional final will be held on the 1st of August 2015 at the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences building at Rhodes University. Over 100 learners are expected to present their works of scientific inquiry at the fair and will be in line to win prizes - with the best 6 learners being taken to the International Science Fair in Johannesburg in October.
In preparation for the the expo, learners have had the opportunity to attend pre-expo workshops run by Scifest Africa. These workshops seek to help learners understand the basics of scientific investigations and also provide assistance with their projects where the need arises. There will be two more of these workshops on the 23rd and 24th of July (see events page).
