Clean audit for science entities
16th February 2015

Three entities reporting to the Department of Science and Technology received awards from the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) for clean audit outcomes for the 2013/14 financial year.

Mr Barry Wheeler, Corporate Executive: Audit in the OAG, presented the award to Minister Naledi Pandor in Pretoria, on 6 February 2015.

The three entities are the Council for Industrial and Scientific Research, the National Research Foundation and the Human Sciences Research Council.

Speaking at the presentation of the awards, Mr Wheeler said it was important for the three entities to maintain the clean audits.  He said the three entities demonstrated that they not only had control measures in place, but also complied with the Public Finance Management Act.

Mr Wheeler commended the leadership provided by the Department of Science and Technology and the management of these institutions.

Minister Pandor said that she was excited by the performance of the three entities and expressed her hope that they would maintain the clean audits.
