Exploring the science of life
18th January 2017

Experience the thrill of dance and movements as science meets the arts in a new workshop at this year’s National Science Festival that promises to take visitors on a journey of exploration of how science concepts may be disseminated using art, dance and movement.

Sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Scifest Africa will take place in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape from 8-14 March. This year the Festival will explore the theme "Tour de Science" with reference to the UN declared International Year for Sustainable Tourism for Development. This theme encourages all in attendance to embark on a journey that explores the milestones, accomplishments, mysteries, discoveries, and the historic and exciting wonders of different fields of science.

Visitors can explore the wonders of science in the workshop Nna le bokamoso, which takes science, and introduces it to the arts to advance young people’s interest in the discipline. This new edition to the Scifest Africa programme hopes to create a platform for young minds to reflect on the importance of science in day-to-day living.

Another interesting addition to this year’s workshops include Life Science Simplicity brought to you by Science Centre Kenya which promises to Demystify life sciences to young people through life science exhibits, DNA extraction in the kitchen and the cell making of structures using live organisms and plants.

The festival promises fun, new experiences for everyone so lookout for the electronic programme available on this site from 6 February 2017.
