DESCRIPTION:Three projects were privileged to receive the Scifest Africa Best Communicator Award at Eskom Expo for Young Scientist ISF\, 2021 and are now included in the 2021-2022 online programme as part of this prestigious award. \nMeet Kutlwano Tshatiwa\, a grade 12 learner from Gabonewe High School in Bojanala region in the North West Province. His research Project titled DoctorNet assists medical doctors in addressing misdiagnosis and or late diagnosis on radiographic data\, which often lead to loss of life. His project is an effort to model technology for good whilst saving lives in the process. \nMeet Ra’ees De Witt\, a Grade 12 leaner from Curro Hermanus Independent School in the Western Cape Region\, . His Research Project is Mitigating Impaired Drug Absorption to shorten Medical Treatment whilst enabling effective Pharmaceutical Product Development. The project investigated drug bioavailability and dissolution by identifying at which gastric pH best permits conditions for first-pass metabolism\, ensuring the highest presence of a selected drug in the gastric fluid when entering the hepatic system; for offering practical implementation strategies to quicken recovery rates. \nMeet Emma –Beth Peters and Kayta Jamie\, grade 12 learners from St. Cyprian’s school in Cape Town\, Western Cape. Their project is based on the varying degrees of human impact along the Liesbeek River. The project investigated the influence of human impact on plant growth along the river’s various sections\, and in doing so hopped to gain a better understanding of how to conserve and protect this ecologically important river.\nWe urge learners\, teachers and parents alike to join this webinar and learn more from these bight young scientists. \n
